The Official Opposition of SYRIZA reacted to the dangerous situation regarding Covid-19 transmission, existing in Puclic Transportation. SYRIZA was provoked by the placement of the Minister of Development, Adonis Georgiadis on Wednesday night on Blue Sky TV, when he was called to respond to a comment that instead of Rafale we should take buses given the overcrowding observed in the Public Transportation the coronavirus days.

“What should we do the 100 buses?” Shall we take them for a ride in Syntagma? Do you know how many billions of euros we have invested in the last 30 years? “What do you want us to do? To cut people’s pensions in order to get buses?”, Said Mr. Georgiadis and added: “And I say to get a million buses and to cut the pensions and salaries of Greeks”.

As expected, the position of Georgiadis provoked the reaction of SYRIZA. “The government left the country and the National Health unprepared in the vortex of the second wave of the pandemic.

Hundreds of thousands of citizens who are called to keep safe distances are stacked daily on the non-existent public transport routes and Mr. Georgiadis with bottomless audacity wonders “what to do with 1000 extra buses? “Should we take them for a ride in Syntagma?”, SYRIZA comments in its announcement.

At the same time, the professor of epidemiology at the University of Athens, Athena Linou, spoke clearly about government responsibilities in public transport: “You have to make it easy for the person who has to be stacked in the Public Transportation to go to work.

Kyriakos Velopoulos: “I would have already boarded the Oruc Reis and I would have sunk the Turkish warships if I was prime minister”.

“Where there is a responsibility of the state, the measures are not implemented”, adds the Official Opposition, which, concluding, states that “we did not expect anything better from Mr. Georgiadis who a few months ago said about the people who were in despair amid a pandemic : “What to do with liquidity? How much to eat? Why do they have to be 300 kilos?

“But we did not expect the New Democracy government to get to the point where they are so aggressive and rude to the citizens who risk their personal health every day to go to work.”
