Mr Shukri describes Greece and Cyprus as two of Egypt’s main allies.
The need for stability in the Eastern Mediterranean to prevail, expressing concern about the recent tensions between Turkey and its two main allies, Greece and Cyprus, as it typically says, was expressed by Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Sameh Shukri, in a telephone call yesterday with his German counterpart, Heiko Maa.
“Egypt stressed to Germany that it rejects the policy of territorial expansion and tensions adopted by certain regional actors in the Eastern Mediterranean,” writes Al Ahram.
According to the official statement, the head of Egyptian diplomacy discussed efforts to restore stability in the Eastern Mediterranean region, especially amid the recent growing tension over turkey’s drilling rights dispute with two of Egypt’s main allies: Greece and Cyprus.
Mr. Shukri reaffirmed Egypt’s continued cooperation and coordination with its neighbors and various friends to achieve peace and security for all the peoples of the region.
